Three Win Weekend for Canes

IN NBJHL action this weekend the Hampton Hurricanes, after being defeated twice on the road by the Kent Koyotes and new league entrants Sackville Storm the past week, turned things around and went on a three game winning spree .

On Friday the Hurricanes shut out the host Fredericton Caps 2- 0. Hampton goaltender Andrew Rodgers, who turned in a strong performance, and Matt Bennett received assists for Chris Forbes goal with 57 seconds left in the first, giving the Hurricanes a lead that would stand until the late in the 3rd. Hurricane Thomas Rice scored an empty net goal with 6 seconds on the clock giving Hampton the win. Caps goalie Jacob King suffer the loss stopping 19 shots. Andrew Rodgers turned away 38 shots for the Hampton win.
 
At home on Saturday night Hampton defeated the Grand Lake Moose. Matt Porter set up Thomas Rice giving the Hurricanes a one goal lead after one. In the second, Grand Lake scored three times, with the Hurricanes scoring two off the sticks of Evan LeBlanc, assisted by Dax Pattison and then LeBlanc and Brad Hooper setting up Chris Forbes to finish the second tied at 3 a piece.
The Moose took an early 4-3 lead in the third but the Hurricanes answered with less than five minutes to play . Chris Harford scored to tie the game while Evan LeBlanc scored his second for the 5-4 win. Assisting on the goals were Chris Forbes and Kyle Dobson . Grand Lake’s Alex Reynolds faced 40 shots while Hurricane Matt Ingraham earned the win stopping 31 shots.
 
On the road Sunday to finish their three game weekend the Hurricanes defeated another new league entrant, Sunny Corner Thunder, 10-2. Hurricanes Matt Porter and Evan LeBlanc lead the way with three goals and an assist each. Chris Forbes contributed one goal and 2 assists. Thomas Rice and Kyle Dobson added a goal and an assist each. Credited with assists were Jessie Prescott with 3, Brad Hooper with 2 and  Chris Harford and Jacob Bass with one each. Andrew Rodgers faced 23 shots for the win. 

The Hurricanes next home game takes place Saturday, November 8, at the Hampton Community Center, facing off against the Fredericton Caps . Game time 8:15pm.
